GOP Senator: Ban Unmarried Women, Gays From Teaching

For all the GOP’s talk of freedom and liberty and getting government out of our lives, their actual social agenda involves Big Brother deciding what your job can or can’t be. Take it away, Sen. Jim DeMint:

DeMint said if someone is openly homosexual, they shouldn’t be teaching in the classroom and he holds the same position on an unmarried woman who’s sleeping with her boyfriend – she shouldn’t be in the classroom.

The chauvinism at work here is really amazing. Unmarried female teachers would presumably be put under a new government-run Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell program monitoring their sex lives. However, unmarried male teachers would be free to hook up at will. Sen. Jim DeMint wants to write Mad Men social norms into government policy.

Really, I don’t know how women can vote Republican and sleep at night (which better be alone if they’re not married).

It is interesting watching his “career” since he destroyed protocol and decorum yelling “you lie” at the Prez.

It has been like watching the school bully who beats up girls becoming the head bully of the school yard. Then joins a gang, which is great for beating up lots of people.

And now he is the political head of the teabaggers. Kind of like the head dip.

Though I do agree with several of his talking points, like reducing the size and scope of the federal government, this is beyond stupid to me. I don’t care what you do on your time until it infringes on my rights or the safety of others.  His constituents do, however, and that’s their prerogative, but good Lord, what a foot in mouth statement.

cavort and shamble in the glades of the hustings today. Let’s hope their gala dance ends in November. As for De Mint and South Carolina, they deserve each othe—-, they are America’s crazy aunt in the attic, we just hope none of our neighbors notice.

Apparently, men are such a bad influence that if you sleep with one, you become unqualified to teach — whether you’re a man or a woman yourself.
