“Congressman Connolly was disappointed that the House majority turned its back on the heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan by rejecting his amendment to continue emergency mortgage assistance to service members, veterans, and gold star families who have been hit by the foreclosure crisis. The amendment was defeated on a party line vote of 182-238.”

As always, can you imagine what Republicans would have said if Democrats had done something like this? I can just hear it now, “why do Democrats hate America?” blah blah blah. But always remember, IOKIYAR (“it’s ok if you’re a Republican”).

Something tells me a the House Republican Caucus would never present something like this.  If they did – I would support them and question any Democrat who voted against it.  But c’est la vie, this is one of the many reasons I’m a Democrat.

There are many important issues that have practical, economic implications – clean energy, education, etc.  But I feel that this is one of pure conscience.  It is morally reprehensible for a country to ask young men and women to die for the state, and then turn it’s back on those same people when they get home.

    Thanks for the effort Gerry.
