Look, the Falls Church News-Press is further left than I am, but I’ll tell you one thing: I’d take their endorsement, and respect their opinion, over the corporate hack Kaplan Post any day of the week! And, of course, Democrats should always do the exact opposite of what right-wing Republican newspapers, like the Abysmal Sun-Gazette and Real Estate Rag, recommend we do (they also endorsed Barbara Favola, which really says it all).

With that, here’s the very liberal Falls Church News-Press’ endorsement of Jaime Areizaga-Soto for Senate from the 31st district.

For the 31st State Senate District, held for so many years by our own State Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple but no longer covering Falls Church, we endorse Jaime Areizaga-Soto, who has exhibited a passionate commitment to strengthen the party statewide bringing his background in the military, his Hispanic-American heritage, and his dedication to fighting for equal rights for all.

An excellent choice, for all the reasons cited. Go Jaime!

P.S. The News-Press also is endorsing Adam Ebbin for Senate in the 30th district, Theo Stamos for Commonwealth’s Attorney, and Alfonso Lopez for House of Delegates from the 49th district.

    • Alexandria Vice-Mayor Kerry Donley Endorses Rob Krupicka for State Senate

ALEXANDRIA, VA. – Today, Alexandria Vice Mayor Kerry Donley endorsed Rob Krupicka in the race for the Democratic nomination in the 30thState Senate District. Donley was the highest vote getter in the most recent At-Large City Council election (2009), thereby becoming Vice Mayor of the city.

“As the chair of the Alexandria Democratic Committee joint campaign I was going to stay neutral but I feel compelled to no longer sit on the sidelines.  This campaign has reinforced my view that we need officials in Richmond that understand and appreciate the challenges of local government and that know that is where the rubber hits to road in terms of serving our community.   I know Rob will be a partner for us in Richmond that will help us deal with transportation, education, the economy and the many other challenges we face”, said Donley.

“Northern Virginia needs officials in Richmond who understand what it’s like to solve problems at the local level and who are committed to moving us forward,” said Krupicka. “I’ve worked with Kerry for years on issues from mass transit to school construction, and I hope to continue that relationship as Senator.”

Kerry Donley joins Delegate David Englin, Congressman Gerry Connolly, Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, Councilwoman Del Pepper, Sherriff Dana Lawhorne, Commonwealth’s Attorney Randy Sengel, four former members of the Alexandria City Council, and the Washington Post, the Sierra Club, the Alexandria Professional Firefighters, the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, and many others in endorsing Rob Krupicka in this race.
