According to this story, “The Virginia Energy Independence Alliance is launching a public education and information campaign to promote the potential benefits of uranium mining.” The alliance “describes itself as a grass-roots coalition that has the corporate backing of coal company Alpha Natural Resources, solar and wind interests, and Virginia Uranium Inc., which wants to mine a rich deposit in Southside Virginia.” And, for anyone who believes this is truly a “grass-roots coalition,” I’ve got a nice…well, uranium mine to sell you! 🙂  Anyway, here’s one of its videos. Enjoy, and go uranium! (snark)

Just one of the many resources on the net for folks who are not starry eyed over the idea of uranium mining in VA:

There is no such thing as a grassroots group for uranium. No group of average citizens sitting around a table casually says, “hey, why don’t we form a group to support mining uranium?” You would have to be a fool to believe otherwise.

This coalition not only includes individual citizens but also many organizations and government entities. It has the backing of such wild eyed radical groups as the Medical Society of Virginia.(snark)  http://keeptheban.org/
