On June 15, 2012 the Virginia Department of Health will vote on permanent regulations that will force abortion clinics to adhere to extremely costly, unjustified and unnecessary regulations.

Independent abortion providers A Capitol Women’s Health Clinic and Falls Church Healthcare Center are attending a silent protest of the vote, which will take place beginning at 7:30 am Friday morning. Clinic staff and administrators are planning to speak out during the meeting and encourage the Board of Health to rethink these onerous regulations and add back the grandfather clause that was originally present.

The grandfather clause would allow existing clinics to remain open without having to adhere to the expensive and baseless structural requirements that could potentially close 20 of the state’s 23 clinics.
