The famed Almighty Colbert Oak, and the Stadium Woods in which it stands, are safe for now.  Virginia Tech’s VP for Administrative Services, the aptly named Sherwood Wilson, has issued the reprieve.  The woods will not be cut down to make room for the football practice facility on the VT campus.

The announcement on the Save Stadium Woods FB page does say that the save doesn’t guarantee that no future development could threaten them.

The Almighty Colbert Oak was featured on a May episode of the Colbert Report here. And, Stephen, rest assured your legacy is intact.  The Mighty Colbert Oak lives on! Hokie Nation fought for your tree!
