  • From Virginia next Attorney General, Mark Herring: “It’s a beautiful day in Richmond for the Democratic Party of Virginia 2013 Jefferson Jackson Dinner. It is an honor for me to be on this ticket with Terry McAuliffe and Senator Ralph Northam that is going to move our Commonwealth forward on job creation, transportation, standing up for women’s rights, voting rights and equality for all Virginians.

Thank you Virginia Democrats for all that you do and for how hard you are going to work from now through November 5th!”

Vice President Joe Biden was met at the Richmond airport by Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor, and his wife Dorothy.

Biden and the McAuliffes then made a stop at Croaker’s Spot, a soul food restaurant located at 1020 Hull St. in Richmond.

U.S. Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott  met Biden and the McAuliffes at the entrance of the restaurant.

Biden entered the restaurant and began taking cell phone pictures with patrons as they ate dinner.

As he and McAuliffe shook hands and took pictures with people, Biden pointed to McAuliffe and said, “You know the next governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe, right?”

He also asked a group of diners, “You’re going to vote for my friend here right?”

When first entering the restaurant Biden took pictures with Carmen Y. Wood, William McGee and Barbara Robinson, who were dining at together.

Biden and McAuliffe met with Croaker’s Spot owner Neverett A. “Sugarfoot” Eggleston III, before heading into the main dining room of the restaurant.

In the main dining room Biden and the McAuliffes took more pictures with diners and met Croaker’s Spot general manager Sherita McGowan.

Biden, the McAuliffes and Scott then sat down to eat. The four each ordered the two piece fried fish boat with French fries, potatoes, limeade and water.

After leaving exiting the restaurant at 6 p.m Biden and McAuliffe waded into a large crowd that had gathered outside to shake hands with throng of people who were taking pictures.

The vice president and the McAuliffes left the Hull St. location to head to the Democratic Party of Virginia’s annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner – a Democratic fundraiser – at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, where both Biden and McAuliffe are scheduled to speak.
