Today the Democratic Party of Virginia released a new television ad informing Virginians about Ken Cuccinelli’s refusal to put his extreme agenda aside and stand up for mainstream legislation to fight violence against women.
In 2012 Cuccinelli was one of just three state Attorneys General who refused to sign a letter urging Congress to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, which provides life-saving services for domestic violence victims and provides law enforcement with tools to prevent domestic violence and bring offenders to justice.
“This new advertisement is about giving Virginians the information they deserve about the real-life consequences of Ken Cuccinelli’s extreme agenda,” said DPVA Chair Charniele Herring. “Ken Cuccinelli has never hesitated to use his government office to attack equal rights and scientists at the University of Virginia, and even try and insert himself between women and their doctors. But when he had the opportunity to stand up to violence against women, he refused. Virginia women can’t afford a Governor who is more focused on his extreme agenda then on keeping us safe.”
