Ken Cuccinelli: Great for Bob “Rolex” McDonnell, but I’m Keeping the Gifts!

Ken Cuccinelli confirms he’s not just a right-wing extremist, he’s also got absolutely ZERO ethical or moral compass.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says he’s glad Gov. Bob McDonnell is returning all the gifts he received from a major political donor. But he has no plans to repay the more than $18,000 in gifts he received from the same benefactor.

Cuccinelli told reporters Wednesday that Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams didn’t give him the kind of gifts that can be returned. Among the gifts from Williams listed in Cuccinelli’s financial disclosure statements are a $1,500 catered Thanksgiving dinner, private jet trips and vacation lodging. Cuccinelli said, “There are some bells you can’t unring.”

What a bizarre quote. Of course Cuccinelli could “unring” those “bells,” simply by writing a check for the value of all that stuff and – wait for it, cuz this is apparently difficult for Cuckoo to understand – pay for what he got from his pal Jonnie Williams. As usual with “the Cooch,” the rules don’t apply to him, only to everyone else.

P.S. In addition, it may be that Cuccinelli doesn’t have the money to repay this stuff. Which raises the question, where on earth is Bob McDonnell getting all this money to repay the loans and gifts his family and he received?!? Verrrry suspicious.

The well heeled, right wing Republican base is fronting the cash to save their malleable poster child for some future use as a shill for their causes.  I suppose they can forsee some future use for this horses’ ass.  After all, there is a sucker born every minute and the Republican Party gets most of them.

    Definition of bribery:

“Bribery is an act of giving money or gift giving that alters the behavior of the recipient.”

This is a problem at every level of government in every state, but Virginia has raised it to a high art. If the disgusting behavior of the McDonnell clan and Ken Cuccinelli don’t give rise to changes in the “laws” that make it a no-penalty offense to allow one’s self to be bribed while in public office, then things will never change in the Commonwealth. Why is it not committing a crime of some sort to “forget” gifts and perks given to a politician by a rich guy trying to get some government welfare – or to have an inside way to avoid something unpleasant…like paying the state $1.5 million in back taxes?

  • Tonight Ken Cuccinelli looked Virginians in the eye and told them he will not take accountability for his part in one of the worst ethics scandals in the Commonwealth’s history.

Instead of admitting he was wrong for embroiling his office in a conflict of interest scandal, Cuccinelli today said he will not return $18,000 in gifts, trips and other items that he accepted (and in some cases solicited) from Star Scientific and the company’s CEO Jonnie Williams, many of which he failed to report in accordance with state law.

Ken Cuccinelli’s unethical behavior has damaged this Commonwealth’s reputation for clean government and his brazen refusal to take responsibility proves he is unfit to serve as Governor.

This is what gets me about this whole sordid tale…the unbridled greed and sense of entitlement from the supposed party of personal and fiscal responsibility. The McDonnells can come up with $145k in a week, when they borrowed and accepted all this cash and prizes years ago? Does he think we are THAT stupid? Did he sell one of his many houses to pay this off? Get a shady home equity line from one of his buddies, or just write a check from his PAC or legal defense fund?
