I’m 100% with Planned Parenthood on this statement, I’d simply add that Pence is not just a direct threat to Virginia women, but also to Virginia men, plus women and men all over the country and the world. In sum, Mike Pence is a menace, as is the top of his “deplorable” ticket. Fortunately, we have an infinitely better choice: go Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine!

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia: Mike Pence is a Direct Threat to Virginia Women

Statement Ahead of Tonight’s VP Debate

Richmond, VA – Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia released the following statement around the Vice Presidential debate this evening being held at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.

Statement from Cianti Stewart-Reid, executive director, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia:

“Mike Pence is a public health nightmare. He’s made a career out of attacking Planned Parenthood in Congress, said condoms are “poor protection” against STDs, and put his extreme politics ahead of science or good medicine time and time again, even as the state of Indiana faced an unprecedented HIV epidemic. He’s tried to redefine rape to restrict abortion access and was even criticized by fellow Republicans when he passed one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country in Indiana.

“Now, Pence and Donald Trump want to take their dangerous disregard for women’s health to the presidency –  a disaster in the making for millions of women and families across the country, taking them back to a time when abortion was illegal, birth control was out of reach for too many, and fewer Americans had health care coverage.

“Rather than divide Virginia based on race, gender, and religion, Hillary Clinton and Senator Kaine are working to bring us together, running on a platform that will ensure the right of every woman to access health care no matter her income, zip code, or insurance type. And Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia is with them all the way to the White House.”
