#Resistance Virginia: Schuyler VanValkenburg for VA-72

Schuyler VanValkenburg at his campaign kick-off.

Riding the wave of Democratic enthusiasm in Virginia, Schuyler VanValkenburg has thrown his hat into the ring for the VA-72 race. Schuyler is a public high school teacher, a husband, a father, and a committed progressive. VA-72 lies in Henrico County, which has become bluer and bluer every election; in November, every district went for Hillary, even the two normally deep red.

Crowd of more than 100 greets Schuyler for his campaign launch.

Julie’s right. HRC won the Three Chopt district by 500+ votes and Brookland district by more than 3500 votes. The 72nd House district is within these areas, and rejected Trump solidly last fall. The Republican-dominated House of Delegates offers little but Trump-style policies on the state level – opposing the ACA and a higher minimum wage, and renewable energy, too. The current delegate for the 72nd district, Jimmie Massie, affirms all of these Trumps-style policies, and others, too. Van Valkenburgh would represent the 72nd more accurately than Massie, and would be a welcome change.
