  • Quizzical

Hmmm, I thought that the business model for news magazines and newspapers has been disrupted by the internet and they were losing money. Now we see billionaires like Bezos and the Koch brothers buying or investing in them. Altruistic behavior? Or are they buying something other than a future revenue stream?

    • Yeah, something tells me that with the Kochs of the world, it’s not about revenue….

  • From Eileen Bedell:

Eileen Bedell Endorses Abigail Spanberger’s Campaign for Congress

“I encourage everyone that has donated to and voted for my campaign to join me in supporting Ms. Spanberger”

Richmond, Va. (November 27, 2017) – Statement from Eileen Bedell:

As you know, I suspended my campaign for Congress to focus on supporting 2017 state and local candidates in the first, post-Trump, Virginia election. I have decided not to resume my campaign for the nomination because I want a Democrat to defeat Brat more than I need to be the individual who does so.

The results of the 2017 elections in Virginia proved the importance and effectiveness of having a unified party that provides the strongest candidate with an organized, energized and coordinated grass roots campaign organization.

I believe the only thing standing in the way of victory is a divisive nomination fight leading to a party that is not unified behind the best candidate. In a race where victory in the general election will require every single potential voter to stay engaged, I believe it is important to speak out now as to whom I feel deserves our unified support and represents the best opportunity to take advantage of the district’s newly engaged Democratic voters.

After extensive election result analysis, discussions with other 7th district voters and campaign volunteers, and thoughtful consideration of the experience, backgrounds, and strategies of the candidates seeking the nomination, one person repeatedly emerged as the strongest, most well-prepared candidate to defeat Dave Brat in 2018.

It is with great pleasure that I invite and encourage all of my supporters to join me in endorsing Abigail Spanberger as the Democratic nominee to challenge Dave Brat in 2018. Ms. Spanberger’s education, professional experience as a civil servant, and past involvement as both campaign volunteer and party delegate make her both exceptionally qualified and well-positioned to win the 7th District of Virginia.

Scum and Scam. Taxpayer $ would be well spent on a straight-jacket and muzzle.

      from Newsweek:
“It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur,” she said on MSNBC.”

“Trump also offended Native Americans by delivering his remarks in front of a portrait of former President Andrew Jackson, a gleeful killer of Native Americans who famously signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830 that forced tribes to relocate to unsettled lands west of the Mississippi River. The law eventually led to the death of 4,000 Cherokees on the Trail of Tears.”

“The barb and photo (mis)opportunity overshadowed the purpose of the Monday event, which was to honor the Navajo Code Talkers, who employed their language to help other U.S. troops during World Wars I and II.”
