From Sen. Tim Kaine: “Assembling Northern Virginia gun violence advocates, students, parents of victims, and faith leaders for an action meeting to discuss the work ahead to promote reforms that will make our communities safer.”
UPDATE: I watched a lot of this and was super impressed with the folks who participated, including the High School students. Great job everybody! By the way, I generally agree with Andy Parker that the only way we’re going to make serious progress on gun violence prevention is to elect a bunch of Democrats to Congress and to state legislatures around the country. We can try to persuade the Marco Rubios of the world, but ultimately, I don’t think it’s realistic to expect much cooperation from people who are a) ideologically hard right on this and other issues; b) bought-and-paid-for by the gun lobby. I also thought that Sen. Kaine made an important point about thinking through the most effective, and most likely, ways to get at gun violence prevention. Check it out.
