See below for a short clip from a longer video, in which 2016 Virginia GOP U.S. Senate nominee Corey Stewart argues that: 1) “The President was right to dismiss the Russia meddling in Helsinki”; and 2) the overwhelming conclusion of the U.S. intelligence community that Russia disrupted/attacked our electoral system – and very possibly colluded with the 2016 Trump campaign – is nothing more than “unproven allegations.”
Astounding. And quite a contrast from actual patriots in the Republican Party, like Sen. John McCain, who earlier today declared:
“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory…The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate…No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.”
Meanwhile, here in Virginia, the GOP’s nominee for U.S. Senate thinks Trump did GREAT in Helsinki – not to mention the rest of his disastrous European trip, in which he insulted our allies and kissed up to a dictatorial thug. Absolutely infuriating. Fortunately, we Virginia voters can DO SOMETHING about this situation, by doing everything we can to make sure that Corey Stewart doesn’t just lose this November, but loses in a massive rout to Sen. Tim Kaine. And as an added bonus, if neo-Confederate Corey does loses in a landslide, it will help Democrats take back the U.S. House of Representatives, thereby providing a desperately needed “check and balance” on our out-of-control “president.” Let’s make that happen…for all our sakes.
