Good stuff as always from the Commonwealth Institute, in this case (see below) their “summary level assessment of certain key changes proposed by the governor for FY 2019 and FY 2020 compared to the enacted budget (Chapter 2, Acts of Assembly 2018) which was signed in June 2018.” Contrast the priorities outlined in Gov. Northam’s budget – investments in healthcare, education, assistance the neediest Virginians and other important priorities – with the Virginia GOP’s “proposed tax hand-out to the super rich.” The saying is that budgets reflect people’s values, and the wild contrasts between the Dems’ and Republicans’ priorities here certainly tell you a great deal about the parties’ divergent value systems.
