KABOOM! That Was the Sound of Ken Cuccinelli's "Narrative" Exploding

by: lowkell

Bye bye Cuccinelli "narrative".
Fairfax Chamber's NOVABizPAC Endorses in Virginia Statewide Races
PAC Endorses Terry McAuliffe for Governor, Senator Ralph Northam for Lieutenant Governor and Senator Mark Herring for Attorney General
Keep in mind that this is one of the major business groups in the state, one that endorsed Republican Jerry Kilgore for governor in 2005 and Republican Bob McDonnell for governor in 2009. Unlike the overwhelmingly Republican NOVA Tech Council PAC and its absurd endorsement of Ken Kookinelli, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce actually knows where its own interests lie: in maintaining a healthy business environment, including a healthy transportation system, so Virginia businesses can actually...conduct business! (I know, what a concept) This endorsement really demolishes whatever "narrative" Ken Cuccinelli was trying to create off the NOVA Technology Council PAC endorsement. The fact is, business does better under Democrats like Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (and Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, under both of whom the stock market boomed and the economy recovered from Republican recessions), rather than under right-wing ideologues like Bush/Cheney, Bob McDonnell, or (god forbid) Cuccinelli/Jackson/Obenshain.

Speaking of Jackson and Obenshain, the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce most certainly did NOT endorse those wackos either. Instead, they endorsed Ralph Northam for LG, citing "his experience serving in the Senate and his support for the Fairfax Chamber's legislative priorities." And they endorsed Mark Herring for Attorney General, "because of his experience serving Northern Virginia and his support for the Fairfax Chamber's legislative agenda and priorities." That makes Obenshain a big fat ZERO in terms of major business group endorsements in Northern Virginia. Gee, I can't imagine why business groups wouldn't be impressed with a guy who wants to ban contraception, criminalize miscarriages, persecute LGBT people, let our roads fall apart, etc. Just can't understand it...lol.

Fairfax Chamber Endorses McAuliffe for Governor (0.00 / 0)
From the McAuliffe campaign:
The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce's political arm, NOVABizPAC, endorsed Terry McAuliffe for governor today, marking the first time in over a decade that they have supported a Democrat for governor.

The endorsement follows extensive interviews with both candidates as well as Wednesday's gubernatorial debate, hosted by the Fairfax Chamber, where McAuliffe laid out his mainstream plan for growing and diversifying Virginia's economy.

"I am honored to have the support of the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce," said McAuliffe. "Our businesses and innovators are the backbone of our economy here in the Commonwealth, and as governor, I will work in a bipartisan way to strengthen education, transportation infrastructure, and workforce development, so we can keep Virginia competitive in the 21st Century."

NOVABizPAC endorsed Republican Bob McDonnell for governor in 2009 and Republican Jerry Kilgore for governor in 2005, but this year aligned with McAuliffe on issues such as accepting federal funds for Medicaid expansion in Virginia, and supporting the bipartisan transportation compromise which passed through the Virginia legislature earlier this year.

Mark Herring: "I'm proud to receive the endorsement of the Fairfax Chamber's NoVaBizPAC" (0.00 / 0)
From the Mark Herring for Attorney General campaign. Sorry, Mark Obenshain - you lose!
ANOTHER MAJOR BUSINESS GROUP ENDORSES MARK HERRING FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

Influential business group notes Democratic AG candidate's service on behalf of NoVa business community in state Senate

Today, NOVABizPAC, on behalf of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, endorsed Democratic candidate for Attorney General Mark Herring. The Chamber noted Herring's experience serving Northern Virginia and his support for the Fairfax Chamber's legislative agenda as reasons why he is the best-suited candidate for the job.

"I'm proud to receive the endorsement of the Fairfax Chamber's NoVaBizPAC," said Mark Herring. "Throughout my career, I have worked to find common sense solutions to the important issues. I've worked with anyone interested in moving Virginia forward, like this past year when Democrats and Republicans came together to pass a bipartisan transportation plan. As Attorney General, I'll continue to put progress ahead of politics. I look forward to working with the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce to ensure Virginia remains among the best states for business and a great place to live, work and raise a family."

The trustees of NoVaBizPAC endorse candidates who campion issues of importance to the Northern Virginia business community. The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (Fairfax Chamber), the Voice of Business in Northern Virginia™, represents more than 650 member companies with nearly 500,000 employees throughout the region.

The NoVaBizPAC endorsement joins a long and growing list of major statewide endorsements during this year's Attorney General race. Herring has also been endorsed by the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Virginia Association of Realtors, the Virginia Education Association, the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, the Virginian-Pilot and a growing list of former and current Virginia Republican lawmakers.

Ralph Northam nabs Fairfax, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Endorsements (0.00 / 0)
I'm shocked! shocked! I tell you that business groups aren't backing E.W. Jackson for Lt. Governor. I mean, why wouldn't they want an extremist nutjob as Virginia's next LG? Can't understand that... (snark)

Fairfax and Hampton Roads Chamber Of Commerce PACs Endorse Ralph Northam
Northam picks up support from two largest regional business organizations

Richmond, VA-Today the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce PAC and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce PAC have endorsed Ralph Northam for Lieutenant Governor. Northam is the only statewide candidate to get endorsed by both Chambers and he also has a 100% pro-business rating from the non-partisan group VAFREE.

After a string of high-profile pro-business endorsements, it is clear that the business community is firmly supporting Doctor Northam for Lt. Governor.  The Farm Bureau and the Virginia Association of Realtors have also endorsed his campaign.

Fairfax County Chamber's NOVABizPAC trustees voted to endorse Senator Northam based on his record and experience in the Virginia Senate.

"The trustees of NOVABizPAC voted to endorse Senator Northam because of his experience serving in the Senate and his support for the Fairfax Chamber's legislative priorities," said NOVABizPAC Chair Scott McGeary.   "We have faith in his ability to lead the State Senate given his experience and service to the Commonwealth."

The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce is comprised of more than 650 member companies with nearly 500,000 employees throughout the region.

The Hampton Roads Business Political Action Committee (HRBizPAC), a public policy arm of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, announced this week that it is also supporting Senator Ralph Northam for Lieutenant Governor.

HRBizPAC Chairman Shep Miller, announced, "The PAC endorsed Senator Northam after careful review and consideration of his responses to the committee's candidate questionnaire and review of his past voting record on business issues, including transportation funding and working in a bipartisan manner on budgetary issues vital to Hampton Roads."

The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit member-based business organization made up of nearly 2,000 member businesses, which employ more than 280,000 men and women in southeastern Virginia.

"It is an honor to have the support of the business community," said Senator Ralph Northam. "As Lieutenant Governor, I will continue working with business leaders to make Virginia a great place to start a business and create new jobs. I will work with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to help Virginia businesses thrive."

These endorsements were the sensible choice (0.00 / 0)
Business leaders prefer a moderate pro-business Democratic ticket to the ticket of three extremist Republicans who--if elected--would neglect business development while they tried to enact their social agenda: banning abortion, banning gays, and banning oral sex.

The Tech PACs' endorsement was--as you amply demonstrated Lowell--simply a case of a PAC staffed by partisan conservatives who don't really represent the true interests of the people they supposedly work for.

Tech Leader Gary Shapiro Endorses McAuliffe for Governor (0.00 / 0)
It's becoming a stampede at this point!
Gary Shapiro, the President and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, the national association representing over 2000 of the nation's most innovative makers and sellers of consumer technology, endorsed Terry McAuliffe for governor on Thursday.

Shapiro supported Republican Mitt Romney during the 2012 election cycle, but is backing McAuliffe because "he will bring a business leader's perspective of problem-solving to the state leadership and will reach across the aisle" to get things done.

"I am honored to have Gary's support, and the support of so many mainstream Republicans and Democrats across Virginia," said McAuliffe. "As governor, I will work to create more opportunities for all Virginians, and support commonsense policies like transportation investments and workforce development, so we can attract the best businesses here and make sure our workers are trained for innovative jobs of the future."

Full Statement by Shapiro:
"I am supporting Terry McAuliffe for governor because he is the best candidate to position Virginia as attractive to the best and brightest employees.  He will support an agenda which makes gays and women feel welcome in Virginia.   He will bring a business leader's perspective of problem-solving to the state leadership and he will reach across the aisle.  While I passionately supported Governor Mitt Romney for President, I believe Terry McAuliffe will encourage entrepreneurship, personal freedom and a Virginia as a great state for education, progress and technology.

Background on Shapiro:
Gary Shapiro is President and CEO of the Arlington Virginia based Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the national association representing over 2000 of the nations most innovative makers and sellers of consumer technology. CEA owns and produces the International CES, the annual global event where innovation comes to market.

Shapiro leads a staff of 150 employees and thousands of industry volunteers. He is the author of two best selling books on innovation: The Comeback. How Innovation Will Restore the American Dream(2011) and Ninja Innovation (2013).

He supported Romney for President in 2012.
