Misogynistic Republicans Turn to Attacking "Jinnie" Wexton as "Natural Blond"

by: lowkell

Thu Jan 16, 2014 at 12:25:36 PM EST

If you haven't noticed, all you have to do is check out the comments in this video (e.g., "Nasty liar.. I hope her all the worst! Skanky Democrat"; "Jennifer Wexton is a Democrat dumpster that only a true Looney Leftist would support. You turds will be destroyed at the polls in 2014. Real Americans know what needs to be done with you filthy bastards. Die slow traitors.") and this one (e.g., "This woman is a  pro-abortion pig. Any coward who supports abortion has the blood of babies on their hands.") to get a taste of the foul vitriol spewing forth towards Jennifer Wexton, the Democratic nominee for State Senate in the 33rd district (the seat Mark Herring is vacating). The Republican nominee running against Wexton is the infamous anti-Semitic "joke" guy John Whitbeck, so it's not like Republicans have a positive argument to make here. Instead, they're putting out ads like the one below, Facebook pages like this one (in which they bizarrely quote from Lenin and more bizarrely seem fixated on the hair color of "Jinnie" - as they condescendingly call her. Raging misogyny? You've come to the right place: the Republican Party, circa 2014! Ugh.

P.S. Also see this pathetic ad by the extremist "Middle Resolution PAC" - notice the similar theme with the Facebook page, etc? Hmmmm.

Gah (4.00 / 1)
Jennifer is only reporting that Whitbeck has said that he would like to ban all abortions. Roe v. Wade is not the end-all be-all either. If one can make the hurdles to get a legal abortion high enough, they become too hard to jump over and we end up with people getting back alley abortions again.

Which is just fine with these folks.

Gah.

Liz Miller, The Doorbell Queen.

Proof that it's a very good Wexton TV ad (0.00 / 0)
These stills that the crazy people are using in the slime you've shared are all from an excellent Wexton ad that I hope we've linked to here before. It has totally hit a nerve with Republicans.

They are responding not only with the psychotic attacks you are showing, but also all sorts of false, faux-outraged claims that the original Weston TV ad is "offensive" and "inappropriate."

I believe the word they are searching for is "effective."

That's all they got (4.00 / 1)
They can't defend the Jew Joke Guy, who even the Washington Post dismissed as a non-serious candidate.

For a Sustainable Virginia. Now on Twitter.

Is That Ad on TV? (0.00 / 0)
Or is it just a web ad?

Either way it is really confusing. Most of the ad attacks the president and the new governor ( which just got elected a few months ago).

It's a really horrible ad for Northern VA, or for most of VA for that matter.

I could have made a better one on my laptop.

Is the Ad on TV? Yes (0.00 / 0)
Yes, I believe the anti-Wexton TV ad linked to in this post (from Middle Resolution PAC) is the one that has aired, sometimes more than once, in local spots on The Today Show every morning for at least the past week, in northern Virginia.

Whether it's more likely to activate Democratic or GOP base voters is kind of an open question for me. Hard for a Dem to be complacent and think their vote in this special election doesn't matter, after seeing that.

I was glad to see Wexton's own TV ad on the local spots on The Today Show, twice, this Saturday morning. It has definitely been on TV here and there over the last couple of weeks, but I hadn't spotted it on The Today Show before.
