The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Press Release: PW County Democrats "poised to win as we head into the final 50 days"

by: lowkell

Mon Sep 19, 2011 at 11:27:30 AM EDT

Great job by Prince William County Democratic Committee Chair Bruce Roemmelt (go Bruce!) and the excellent Democratic candidates in Prince William County. Now, let's hope we can translate this fundraising success into grassroots success - particularly high turnout of "Obama coalition" (young people, African Americans, Latinos, liberal whites, socially moderate independents, etc.) on November 8. For now, though, this is all good news...keep up the great work!
Democratic Candidates in Strong Position for Final Stretch

Woodbridge, VA - Democratic candidates in Prince William County have posted strong fundraising reports for the critical September 15th campaign finance reporting deadline. Candidates standing for election on November 8th were required to file reports outlining contributions and expenditures for the period of August 11th to August 31st by 5PM Thursday.

Chairman Candidate Dr. Babur Lateef outraised Republican incumbent Chairman Corey Stewart for the third consecutive filing period. Lateef has raised over $262,000 since entering the race in January. "Dr. Lateef has excited many people with aggressive challenge to incumbent Corey Stewart. Voters and donors know that we need a Chairman who will focus on Prince William County and bringing a new vision to our community" noted Democratic Party Chairman Bruce Roemmelt.

Divisive Republican primaries have given a strong advantage to Democratic candidates. Senator Toddy Puller running for reelection to the Virginia State Senate has posted nearly twice the amount of cash on hand than her opponent, former Republican Party of Virginia Chairman, Jeff Frederick. Ann Wheeler, candidate for Gainesville Supervisor  has more than five times the cash on hand than her opponent Peter Candland. "Mr. Frederick and Mr. Candland came out of  divisive and expensive Republican primaries. Our party is united around Senator Puller and Ann Wheeler. Both candidates are in a strong position to win this November" Roemmelt noted.

Additionally State Senate Candidate Shawn Mitchell has received contributions from three times as many donors as former Delegate Dick Black in the 13th Senate District. Roemmelt highlighted the bipartisan support Mitchell is drawing "Voters have rejected  Mr. Black's extreme agenda already. They know we need practical solutions in the Senate, not rabid ideology".

In the contested State House races, Delegate Luke Torian outraised Republican challenger Cleveland Anderson 35-1 and Democratic candidate Esteban Garces raised over $9,500 dollars while his opponent embarrassingly received no contributions to his campaign. "Delegate Torian is a great leader in the House and Esteban Garces will be a great addition to our delegation in Richmond. Delegate Torian and Esteban have a unique ability to connect with our community and it shows throughout their campaigns" added Roemmelt.

"Democratic candidates in Prince William County are poised to win as we head into the final 50 days. Not only do our candidates have the funds to communicate with our voters, they have the right message for all of Prince William County" Roemmelt concluded.

No wonder why PW Dems are doing so well these days (and this video doesn't even include Corey Stewart and several others high on the cuckoo meter...

GOP enthusiasm too low to register (0.00 / 0)

I'm encouraged to see that Republicans in my area (southern Loudoun) who had yard signs out for Black's primary opponents have NOT replaced them with Black signs.
