Virginia News Headlines: Wednesday Morning

Wed Apr 04, 2012 at 07:09:28 AM EDT

Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Wednesday, April 4.

*Triple win bolsters Romney's case to GOP
*Independent Voters Brighten On The Economy (See graph above, courtesy of TPM; bad news for Willard and other Republicans, who have been praying for - and in many ways working to prevent - the economy from recovering. Sorry, Republican'ts, once again you #FAIL!)
*Kaine, now the nominee, again outraises Allen
*Warner: Congress Has 'One More Shot' To Fix Deficit
*Cuccinelli won't endorse GOP presidential candidate
*Editorial: Trouble in the kitchen ("Gov. McDonnell won't starve, but his failure to vet the executive chef is giving him indigestion.")
*Clinton in Norfolk: NATO allies are essential to stopping aggressors
*Va. budget negotiators hope to make deal by the end of the week
*Va. grants permission for operating room at Planned Parenthood clinic
*Virginia TV ads tout new greenhouse gas limits on power plants
*Byron: Assembly's accomplishments were overlooked (The classic logical fallacy of Post hoc ergo propter hoc -- "after this, therefore because of this" -- by Kathy Byron. Nice job! Heh.)
*Englin's affair, decision to bow out douse a 'rising star'
*Eric Cantor's excellent Google adventure
*'Grade deflation' hits Fairfax County
*Eric Cantor Up With Campaign Ads
*Virginia Beach councilmen want November light-rail referendum
*Fairfax chamber wants Dulles rail money in Va. state budget
*A pitching rotation worth watching (Go Nats!)

P.S. Don't forget to sign Susan Mariner's "Save Our Bees" petition at (it's already got almost 75,000 signatures)!

UPDATE: Check out Maureen Dowd's latest, in which she asks (to all those swooning on their fainting couches, like Ruth Marcus, no doubt), "The justices want to be above it all, beyond reproach or criticism. But why should they be?" Exactly - these people think it's ok for police to strip search any of us for any reason, but we can't ever "strip search" their motives, f***ups, etc? What utter drivel.
