State Senator Mary Margaret Whipple Endorses Alfonso Lopez for Delegate;
Cites Lopez's Depth of Knowledge on the Issues Important to Northern Virginia
State Senator Mary Margaret Whipple (SD31) endorsed Alfonso Lopez in the race for the open 49th district House of Delegates seat. Senator Whipple is the Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and the first woman to hold a leadership position in the Virginia General Assembly.
“Alfonso has a long record fighting for our community and has the depth of knowledge on the issues that will make him an effective representative for the 49th District,” said Whipple. “Alfonso has been a leader on the environmental issues that have been my passion in Richmond. I know that I will be proud of Alfonso in Richmond, because I have seen the impact he has had and continues to have in Arlington.”
Whipple joins former 49th District Delegate Karen Darner and community leaders from across Northern Virginia in supporting Lopez for Delegate.
“I am honored and humbled to have the support of Senator Whipple,” said Lopez. “For 35 years, she has fought for Arlington on the issues that we care most deeply about: a good education for all of our children, a basic standard of living for all of our citizens, and a clean environment that we all can enjoy.”
