Eric H. Holder, Jr. To Keynote DPVA Jefferson-Jackson Dinner
The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) today announced that Eric Holder, the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, will be the keynote speaker at the organization’s 2017 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, which will be held on the evening of Saturday, June 17th, at the Richmond Marriott.
“The JJ dinner is an annual celebration of our core Democratic values: we are the party of hardworking people fighting for hardworking people,” said Chairwoman Susan Swecker. “Attorney General Eric Holder embodies those values, and we look forward to his address as we energize behind our nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and House of Delegates races. Above all, our 2017 dinner will serve as a definitive statement to Virginia Republicans that the Resistance to Donald Trump begins in Richmond. Their choice is simple: They can either join us in our fight or continue to enable Donald Trump to devastate our economy and our environment.”
“I’m honored to join Virginia Democrats ahead of the critical elections this year,” Attorney General Holder said. “This November’s elections in Virginia are a top priority for Democrats and give us the opportunity to undo Republican gerrymandering and have a legislature and Congress that truly represent the views of the people. I’m proud to join Governor McAuliffe in this effort to ensure that Virginia’s maps more accurately reflect the state’s diverse communities. As Democrats, we must unite to fight for the values that have made us a great nation: fairness, inclusiveness, and equality.”
“The 2017 election in Virginia will be a choice between continuing the progress we have made building a stronger and more inclusive economy, or moving backward to the intolerant policies we’ve seen in places like North Carolina.” Governor Terry McAuliffe said. “We’re honored to have Attorney General Holder join us in Virginia and in the fight for fairer maps here in the Commonwealth and across the country.”
