As usual, local activists and citizen journalists are far ahead of the corporate media in covering stuff like this — great job by everyone involved! Check out the videos, below, for what said citizen journalists found out yesterday morning about tree-cutting operations beginning for Dominion Energy’s Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) monstrosity. My favorite quote: “all of Dominion’s feel-good propaganda is being proven false, just like we said it was. None of these folks are from Virginia, but yet they’re here doing the work. So you’re getting no jobs out of this, and if you do it’s very few and very very temporary”

“The beginning of tree clearing in Buckingham County on property for which the ACP has easements. You’ll notice that every truck here is from out of state, not a single one is a Virginia plate, so so much for the jobs being created in Virginia that our governor and others have touted. And so we are progressing down an access road that we are allowed to be on and you can see each of these workers here; they are beginning to clear trees. You’ll notice the plates are Utah…not many Virginia jobs being created here, obviously. Anybody from Virginia? Anyone? Not according to the license plates...That’s what our governor says; we’re gonna create a lot of jobs in the state of Virginia, except none of them will be for Virginians, apparently.”

“Surveyors are here; their trucks are from West Virginia, North Carolina, Utah, Ohio. They’re not speaking to us and we’re trying to ask them specifics about what’s going on…It’s crazy to me that they can’t speak to you…it’s like they’re all trained to silence and just roll up the window…One of the frustrating things to me is that when Buckingham County approved the pipeline project for their county they did it under the stipulation that it would create…construction jobs…ACP is only contracting national companies, they’re not contracting local companies. This guy that wouldn’t speak to us, all they said was here’s a card, Atlantic Coast Pipeline, talk to Aaron Ruby…Dominion’s public relations person…This might be starting faster than we expected…Stay updated, share this please, that this ACP and [Mountain Valley Pipeline] are not wasting any time, it’s Saturday morning…It’s not like they’re even going to take the weekends off…I find it ironic that all of Dominion’s feel-good propaganda is being proven false just like we said it was. None of these folks are from Virginia, but yet they’re here doing the work. So you’re getting no jobs out of this, and if you do it’s very few and very very temporary…They’re wasting no time, the process has begun, and it’s up to YOU to decide what you want to do about it.”
