See below for an example of how, IMHO, Democrats should be advertising right now. First off, Democrats should be running as proud Democrats, not pushing “both sides” false equivalency nonsense in any way, or b.s. “generic Washington/generic Congress is ‘broken'” (as opposed to “the REPUBLICAN Congress is broken because REPUBLICANS broke it!”) messaging, or brain-dead garbage about how “generic (as opposed to REPUBLICAN) politicians in Washington are…blah blah blah.” Second, with the severe threat to our democracy and our nation more broadly posed by Trump and his corrupt, authoritarian gang of criminals, there is ZERO excuse for Democratic Congressional candidates not to call that out clearly and forcefully. Z-E-R-O. Finally, use real words, like “authoritarian” or even “dictators,” and certainly state that you will fight the menace of Trump/Trumpism with everything you’ve got. The following ad, by VA-07 Democrat Dan Ward, does a great deal of that, and I’m glad to see it. More like this please, Democratic candidates!

Marine highlights service in new ad attacking Donald Trump
ORANGE, VA – Today Dan Ward, a Democratic candidate for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, released his campaign’s final television ad “Stand up” ahead of the June 12th primary.
In the ad, Ward relates how his experiences as a Marine and military advisor in President Obama’s State Department taught him to recognize authoritarians when he sees them. “…I know something about dictators who tell you what you want to hear, use you, and leave you with nothing.” Ward says, “Tweets and threats aren’t going to provide affordable healthcare or create jobs.”
The release of this final ad 8 days before the primary caps off the 4th week in which Ward has outspent his Democratic primary opponent. This latest television ad was released in tandem with a corresponding radio spot, read by campaign surrogate Reverend Jeanetta Lee, touting Ward’s credentials and how he will make standing up to Donald Trump a top priority.
