VA-10 Democratic nominee Jennifer Wexton kicked off yesterday’s national security forum as follows:
Virginia-10 is home to thousands of intelligence and national security professionals, many of whom were very concerned about what’s going on at the federal level at this time. Donald Trump and congressional Republicans have made us less safe, they have failed to protect our national security, and they have really brought the respect for the United States down quite a bit in the world and thereby made us less safe. Federal workers who work in the intelligence and national security operations are dedicated to making our country safer every day, but they have not been getting the respect of this administration nor of Congress at this time. When I am elected I will be a pragmatic, relentless voice in support of our intelligence and national security communities and thousands of professionals who work in them.
Participants in the panel included Sen. Mark Warner; former Rep. Tom Perriello; former State Department and National Security Council official Laura Rosenberger; former Director of the National Counterterorrism Center Matt Olsen; former Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, former National Security Council Chief of Staff Brian McKeon; U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, founder of Mission First Roger Dean Huffstetler. Interesting comments by the panel; check out the video, below. As Sen. Warner concluded, addressing Jennifer Wexton, “these are the kind of folks that you’re going to surround yourself with when you get to Congress in terms of national security; you’re going to do the people of the tenth district a very very good job.”
