See below for video of last night’s Henrico Democratic SD-12 candidate forum, held at the University of Richmond, between candidates Veena Lothe and Debra Rodman. I’ve only caught a small portion of it so far, but for some highlights of what happened at the debate by someone who was there, see this Twitter thread by Chaz Nuttycombe. For instance, the two candidates were asked, “What is your most important issue?” According to Chaz’s Twitter thread, Lothe responded “gun reform” while Rodman said a “woman’s right to choose.” Also, “What’s an out-of-the-box idea you’d like to see adopted in the GA?” Chaz reports that Lothe responded, “Overturn Dillon’s Rule, letting localities decide on things like their minimum wage, confederate monuments” and Rodman said, “Expanding/improving family life education (sex ed).”
Personally, I like both these candidates, but I’ve endorsed Debra Rodman for several reasons, including my belief that she’s a strong progressive who can win in November and will do a great job in the State Senate. But whoever wins on Tuesday, of course I’ll strongly support them in the general election against Republican Siobhan Dunnavant.
