House Majority Forward announced today it is running advertisements thanking Rep. Abigail Spanberger for their support of H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act. The bill includes measures to reduce prescription drug costs for American families.
“The soaring cost of prescription drugs is one of the most pressing issues facing America’s families and Rep. Abigail Spanberger has shown she is working tirelessly to deliver results on behalf of Virginia families,” said Abby Curran Horrell, executive director of House Majority Forward. “The Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act is a bill that will reduce prescription drug costs for millions, and Rep. Abigail Spanberger has shown real leadership in tackling the issues most important to Virginia families.” H.R. 3, which has been endorsed by the AARP, will enable Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and will bring down the cost of new drugs through the negotiation process at 85 percent of the average manufacturer price. According to the Congressional Budget Office, H.R. 3’s negotiation provisions will result in an average discount of 55 percent for the first group of drugs to undergo negotiations under Medicare Part D.
