From the Democratic Party of Virginia:
“Absolute” Donald Trump Supporter Pete Snyder Announces Campaign for Governor
As Republican disarray intensifies, Pete Snyder enters the governor’s race by attacking fellow candidates and voicing his absolute support of Donald Trump
Richmond, VA — Today, after weeks of speculation and avoiding difficult questions, far-right Republican and Fox News talking head Pete Snyder formally announced his campaign for governor of Virginia. Pete’s entrance into the already chaotic GOP primary drags the field even further right into the extreme politics Virginians have repeatedly rejected. On his first day in the race, Pete made clear that he is running as nothing more than an “absolute” supporter of President Trump’s agenda and the far right radicalism he calls “revolutionary.”
The out-of-touch stance is nothing new for Pete. Over his many years as a GOP political operative and conservative talking head, Pete Snyder has attacked the Affordable Care Act and its protections for Virginians with pre-existing conditions. He has outspokenly opposed Medicaid expansion — which he calls “bad for business” — demonstrating his disregard for the health care policies that have made Virginians healthier and safer during this pandemic.
“Pete’s running as a far right conservative and outspoken Trump supporter who is out of touch with Virginians’ values,” said Manuel Bonder, DPVA spokesman. “Pete’s shady career as a Republican talking head is going to raise questions, but his opposition to affordable health care and reproductive rights is abundantly clear. Pete Snyder’s campaign announcement also intensifies the cash-strapped Virginia GOP’s severe divisions and total disarray.
“Welcome to the GOP clown car, Pete.”
