So, at this point (1/16), in Virginia we’re at 429,391 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 19,846 hospitalizations and 5,706 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 6,757 (+1.6%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 4,795 (+1.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 104 (+0.5%), which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 146 (+0.8%). Deaths are reported +50, compared to +30 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,764,813 (up 34,133 from yesterday).
