From the Democratic Party of Virginia:
Amanda Chase and Virginia Republicans Ride Shotgun As Marjorie Taylor Greene Becomes the Face of the GOP
Richmond, VA — This week, the U.S. House of Representatives delivered a bipartisan rebuke of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene over her support for extremist conspiracy theories, executing Democratic leaders, and racist, antisemitic, and Islamophobic views. Not wanting to be left behind, Virginia Republicans flocked to her side to quickly offer statements of support.
First, far right Congressman Bob Good stated proudly and effusively that he supports Rep. Greene’s extremism and is “thankful” to have her in Congress. Then, following Rep. Good’s lead, every Republican in the Congressional delegation refused to hold her accountable, voting to keep Rep. Greene on her committees. So far, none of the Virginia Republican candidates for governor have disagreed with either Good’s comments or the Republicans in the delegation.
Meanwhile, on the campaign trail, GOP gubernatorial “frontrunner” Amanda Chase made herself out to be the Marjorie Taylor Greene of Virginia — which, sure, why not? Once again, the rest of the field remains silent on their party’s eager embrace of extremists during this brutal internal fight. It appears they all agree with Rep. Greene — the GOP is still 100% Donald Trump’s party.
“Virginia Republicans aren’t even pretending to make a break with the Q wing of their party,” said Manuel Bonder, DPVA spokesman. “By refusing to disavow the rhetoric of Amanda Chase and Rep. Greene, Republicans give their tacit approval. That’s a dangerous path for Virginia, and the country.”
