From the Democratic Party of Virginia:
DPVA Launches Virginia Turnout Project Ahead of 2021 Elections
Richmond, VA — With all eyes on Virginia’s statewide and House of Delegates elections, the Democratic Party of Virginia is launching the Virginia Turnout Project – a collaboration with state and national groups to boost Democratic turnout in the 2021 elections. Following record turnout in the 2020 elections, the Virginia Turnout Project will invest in voter registration, digital and in-person outreach, and other programs across the commonwealth to educate voters and elect Democratic candidates at every level.
DPVA is launching the Virginia Turnout Project in conjunction with the Virginia House Democratic Caucus, The Way Ahead PAC, the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association, the Democratic Governors Association, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, and the Democratic National Committee.
“Virginia’s elections this year are the most important elections in the country, and we’re proud to be launching a new effort to elect Democrats up and down the ballot with some fantastic partners. We’ve seen over the past four years what kind of impact Democrats can have when we organize early across Virginia. This year it will be more important than ever to have a strong organization in place to register voters and drive up turnout on election day, and the Virginia Turnout Project will be a key part of that mission,” said DPVA Chair Susan Swecker.
“Over the course of the past two years, our House Democratic Majority has delivered for Virginia families across the commonwealth. From passing legislation to speed up the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, reopen our schools safely, provide paid sick leave for health care workers, raise the minimum wage, expand access to job training and make childcare affordable for middle class families, House Democrats have kept their commitment to protect families, keep Virginia healthy, and rebuild our economy stronger,” said House of Delegates Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn. “Our work however is far from finished, and with Republicans promising to roll back the progress we’ve made on behalf of Virginia families, it is imperative we keep our majority. I look forward to working with the Virginia Turnout Project to hold the House this November and continue our work to build a better Virginia.”
“We’ve made huge strides for voting rights here in the commonwealth under our Democratic majority. The Virginia Turnout project is going to be an essential tool in helping us to make sure more Virginians understand their rights to access the ballot. We have important elections across the commonwealth this year, and I’m grateful for this new effort to mobilize Democrats statewide,” said Majority Leader Charniele Herring.
