Friday (3/5) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +1,652 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 583,060), +100 Hospitalizations (to 24,514), +71 Deaths (to 9,428)

Lowest hospitalizations since 11/10; lowest 10-day new cases since 11/17

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (3/5), in Virginia we’re at 583,060 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 24,514 hospitalizations and 9,428 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went to 1,652 (+0.3%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,300 (+0.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 100 (+0.4%), which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 60 (+0.3%).  Deaths are reported +71, compared to +31 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 5,996,828 (up 24,556 from yesterday).

P.S. VDH notes, “VDH is now processing 2021 death certificates related to the post-holiday surge of COVID-19 cases. As a result, a larger number of deaths is expected to be added by report date”
