WOODBRIDGE, VA — Today, Delegate Hala Ayala’s campaign for Lieutenant Governor announced the launch of their first television and radio ad buy. The television and radio ads are the first installment of a strategic ad buy in multiple markets in Virginia showcasing Delegate Ayala’s consistent record of delivering for working families in the General Assembly and history-making campaign. You can watch the TV ad here.
Ayala — the first Afro-Latina elected to the General Assembly — serves in leadership of the House Democratic majority as Chief Deputy Whip, where she has helped usher in transformational progress for Virginia, including expanding Medicaid, passing historic criminal justice reforms, and raising teacher pay. She would make history as the first woman elected Lieutenant Governor and the first woman of color elected statewide in Virginia history.
Yesterday, Delegate Ayala was endorsed by Governor Ralph Northam, Speaker of the House of Delegates Eileen Filler-Corn, and House Majority Leader Charniele Herring. They join dozens of organizations, elected officials, and community leaders from across Virginia in supporting Ayala’s bid for Lieutenant Governor, including former Congressman Jim Moran, State Senator Lionell Spruill, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, House Majority Whip Alfonso Lopez, House Majority Co-Whip Mike Mullin, Appropriations Committee Chair Luke Torian, Transportation Committee Chair Delores McQuinn, Delegates Danica Roem, Josh Cole, Dawn Adams, Clinton Jenkins, and Kathleen Murphy, and Higher Heights for America, which is dedicated to electing more Black women. The following is a transcript of the TV ad:
Some issues are just personal.
When I was pregnant, I worked here. Minimum wage. No benefits.
Medicaid saved my life and my son’s.
So when I had the chance to expand affordable healthcare with one vote, I didn’t hesitate.
Now 400,000 Virginians can see a doctor when they’re sick.
You see, some issues are bigger than politics. They’re personal.
Vote Democrat Hala Ayala to be our first woman Lieutenant Governor.
