Yesterday, the Virginia GOP held its “unassembled convention” to select its (Trumpis, out-of-the-mainstream) nominees for governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General. Now, after the ballots were driven or flown to Richmond from 39 locations around Virginia, they will be counted – in a ballroom in Richmond, by hand, using both weighting (by locality) and Ranked Choice Voting. The first office to be counted will be Attorney General, where Del. Jason Miyares is the favorite – for more on him, see Jason Miyares’s Far-Right Record Is Dangerous For Virginia and Republican AG Candidate, Del. Jason Miyares, Fearmongers on Right-Wing Talk Radio; Wants to Enshrine Unpopular, Counterproductive No-Parole Policy Into Constitution (other candidates are Chuck Smith, Jack White and Leslie Haley). Then, presumably, they will count the governor’s and Lt. Governor’s races tomorrow and Tuesday, although it’s possible it will drag on longer, and I’m not clear which office (LG or governor) they’re going to count first. Anyway, see below for video and results. And…enjoy? LOL
By the way, according to VPAP, “results…should begin flowing shortly after 1 pm.” VPAP adds: “Our understanding is they will be posted results as they come in. Many localities have fewer than 100 ballots to count.”
