Good – every school district should join Fairfax County on this!
By late October, all FCPS employees will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to routine negative COVID-19 tests, a move that reinforces existing layered prevention strategies and the division’s commitment to safety.
And a statement from Fairfax County School Board member Karl Frisch:
Statement on Vaccine Requirement for FCPS Teachers and Staff
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – Today, following Fairfax County Public Schools’ announcement that teachers and other school employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of October or submit to providing regular proof of a negative test, School Board member Karl Frisch (Providence District) released the following statement supporting the decision:
“Our teachers and staff have gone above and beyond to keep their students safe and healthy during the pandemic. Most signed up for vaccines as soon as they were available,” Frisch said. “This was the right decision. To keep our students safe and our schools running smoothly, it is critical that everyone in our community who is eligible gets vaccinated — not only our educators and school employees. That is how we will ultimately put this pandemic behind us.”
