SPEAKER EILEEN FILLER-CORN ANNOUNCES RECORD-BREAKING THIRD QUARTER FUNDRAISING

Speaker reports over 1,200 contributions for the quarter, a clear sign of enthusiasm for Democrats as Election Day approaches

RICHMOND, VA — Today, Virginia Speaker of the House Eileen Filler-Corn announced record-breaking fundraising for the quarter, with over 1,200 contributions, far outpacing any speaker before her, and a total of over $1.7 million raised with over $2.2 million cash on hand. This brings the speaker’s overall fundraising for 2021 to nearly $3.3 million, closing out a year of consecutively strong filings through her campaign account and her political action committee, Energized for Change.

Speaker Filler-Corn has been a leader in the effort to maintain Democratic control of the House. To date, she has contributed over $3.5 million to the Virginia House Democratic Caucus and individual campaigns for the cycle. Her impressive fundraising reflects the energy and momentum of Virginians from across the Commonwealth who are headed to the polls to re-elect a Democratic majority to the House of Delegates.

“Virginians in every corner of the Commonwealth are clearly excited to send a Democratic majority back to the House of Delegates,” said Speaker Filler-Corn. “Since Virginians elected us to the majority, Democrats have delivered on expanding health care, funding education, strengthening our economy, and more. I am so grateful to Virginians in the 41st district and beyond for their outpouring of support, and I am confident they will not be disappointed on Election Day.”

In July, CNBC announced that Virginia earned back-to-back titles as the top state for business, and last month, Virginia jumped up 28 spots from dead last in the nation for workers — a testament to the Democratic Majority’s efforts to support small businesses while creating an open, welcoming environment for workers.

In the last two years, the General Assembly has passed pivotal legislation to increase access quality, affordable to health care; expand education funding and teacher pay; improve both the availability and accessibility of absentee voting; implement common-sense gun violence prevention; and protect workers’ rights, women’s rights, and LGBTQ+ rights.
