Attorney General Miyares Breaks the Law…Again

Richmond, VA — A recent report by Richmond Times-Dispatch found that Attorney General Miyares received $70,000 in campaign contributions – breaking a state law prohibiting state officials from accepting campaign contributions during the General Assembly session.

This news follows several other troubling revelations of corruption and patterns of unethical behavior from the Attorney General’s Office during his first month on the job. How can Virginians trust the top law enforcement officer when he consistently disregards the very laws he’s been elected to enforce?

In case you missed the Attorney General’s illegal, unethical, and incompetent behaviors, here’s a list of his failures to date:

  1. Emails released found that the AG’s office was involved in a potential quid-pro-quo for a top position as UVA’s general counsel if the high-profile Loudoun investigation is “done well and the AG looks good.”
  2. Miyares illegally accepted $70,000 in illegal campaign donations during the General Assembly session.
  3. The Deputy Attorney General that Miyares appointed to oversee Virginia’s elections was forced to resign after her beliefs that the 2020 election was stolen and that Jan. 6 insurrectionists were patriots were uncovered.
  4. Attorney General Miyares confessed that his office can’t keep up with the key responsibilities of his office.
  5. Miyares wrongfully fired civil servants who didn’t align with his political ideology.

“Attorney General Miyares has shown Virginians over and over again a clear pattern of lawlessness, corruption and unethical behavior,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “How are Virginians supposed to have faith in the Attorney General’s office to ensure justice when the highest law officer in our commonwealth is breaking the very laws he swore an oath to uphold?”
