See below for the latest COVID-19 statistics for Virginia, courtesy of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA). As you can see, total cases hit 1,572,022, up 6,500 since the Thursday morning report and up 80,029 over the past 10 days (that’s significantly lower than last Friday’s 10-day increase of 118,188); the Omicron wave appears to be declining. As for hospitalizations, according to VDH, we’re now at a cumulative 47,148, down 88 (data adjustment?) from the Thursday morning statistics (also, VHHA now has hospitalizations at 2,521…on a definite downward trajectory). And deaths are at 16,703, up 155 from the Thursday morning statistics (deaths seem to be lagging the decline in cases and hospitalizations).
