The Virginia General Assembly is meeting today in a special session to consider and vote on the Virginia budget conference report. See below for some video and other information/updates on what’s going on. To see the budget bills, click here (HB30 for 2022-2024) and here (HB29 for 2020-2022).

  • First, see this morning’s Appropriations Budget Briefing:

  • Next, here’s Del. Marcus Simon (D-Falls Church) talking about the opaque budget process, in which delegates only found out what was in the budget over the Memorial Day weekend, and in which items not normally related to the budget – but which the normal legislative process couldn’t reach agreement on – sere put into the budget by the conferees, with other legislators not being aware.

Now, here are some updates from Cindy/VAPLAN, etc.
