Linda Brooks, Chair of the Virginia Democratic Women’s Caucus along with Marjorie Signer, third Vice Chair of the of the Caucus, have presented a board-approved resolution (see below) to the DPVA on abortion rights. They are asking that the state party adopt a statement in support of abortion rights at its September meeting. As the statement says:

1. “We reaffirm our opposition to the imposition of restrictions on reproductive choice by the governments of the Commonwealth or the United States, and stand in solidarity with women in states where abortion has become or soon will become illegal.”
2. “We call upon the General Assembly of Virginia and the United States Congress to take such actions as may be necessary to protect the right to safe and legal abortion.”
3. “We call upon the General Assembly of Virginia to codify the right to safe and legal abortion in the Virginia Code.”

Of course, Republicans won’t listen to this, but that just drives home the importance of voting this fall – and in every election – for *Democrats* up and down the ballot!
