VIRGINIA BEACH – Today, City Councilman Aaron Rouse, VEA President Dr. James J. Fedderman, VBEA President Kathleen Slinde, and local parents, students, and educators held a roundtable to discuss the challenges facing Virginia’s education system.
At the roundtable, Aaron Rouse reiterated his commitment to providing a world-class education for every child, combating the COVID learning loss, recruiting and retaining the best educators, and investing in school infrastructure.
“It is such an honor to be sitting around this table with educators, parents and advocates talking about an issue that is near and dear to my heart; education,” said Aaron Rouse. “As Senator, I will work to build on my accomplishments on City Council – continuing to fight for teacher pay raises, investing in school infrastructure, and improving access to job training and workforce development opportunities.”
“Aaron Rouse is the education candidate,” said Congressman Bobby Scott. “On City Council Aaron fought to fully fund our public schools and raise pay for our educators. In the Senate, Aaron will continue to build on his successes and ensure all Virginia children have the opportunity to access a world-class education.”
“Virginia’s public schools need bold leaders like Aaron Rouse who will help transform and restore our education system,” said VEA Dr. President James J. Fedderman. “Governor Youngkin and Republicans’ proposed budget have sent a clear message that they don’t value our public schools or our educators and would rather funnel money to charter schools. Aaron will fight to ensure our public schools are adequately funded to provide the quality education our students and families should expect.”
