SD-09 Nominating Committee Releases Call to Caucus, Voting Details for February 26, 2023 Firehouse Primary
RICHMOND, VA – This morning, the SD-09 Nominating Committee released their Call to Caucus for the firehouse primary to be held on February 26, 2023.
The Call to Caucus outlines the details of how and where voters can cast their ballot and how candidates can file to be a candidate in the Firehouse Primary.
On February 26, 2023, polls will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Any person who considers themselves a Democrat and is a registered voter of the Ninth State Senate District can cast their ballot at any of these locations:
- IBEW 666 – 1400 E Nine Mile Rd, Highland Springs, VA 23075
- Ashland Municipal Building – 121 Thompson St, Ashland, VA 23005
Additional voting locations will be announced as they are added in Henrico, Richmond City, and Charles City.
Voters will need to bring one of the same methods of identification that are required to vote in a state-run election.
To become a candidate, individuals must submit their declaration of candidacy (linked in the Call to Caucus), a copy of their Statement of Economic Interest, a copy of their Certificate of Candidate Qualification, at least 50 signatures from registered voters of the Ninth Senate District, and the candidate filing fee, which is set at $2,500. Candidates may file until 7:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023.

We remain laser-focused on ensuring this process is run as smoothly and as transparently as possible for candidates and voters alike,” said Liam Watson, Press Secretary of the Democratic Party of Virginia.
