From the Democratic Party of Virginia:
Youngkin Deserts Virginians To Beg For Campaign Dollars In New York (Again)
RICHMOND, VA – Last night, Governor Youngkin deserted the Commonwealth to meet with high-dollar GOP donors in New York in what appears to be his latest attempt to secure funding for a 2024 presidential campaign, joining the ranks of disgraced former president, Donald Trump, and book-banner Ron DeSantis.
This trip comes just days after one of Youngkin’s own aides had to backpedal comments suggesting that there was no room in the GOP presidential nomination contest for Glenn Youngkin, declaring that between Trump and DeSantis, “there’s simply no room for a third or fourth, or even fifth person in this race,” seemingly including Youngkin himself.
“Governor Youngkin has never really been all that invested in actually being Governor of the Commonwealth,” said Liam Watson, Press Secretary for the Democratic Party of Virginia. “From the outset, he’s treated Virginians as though they’re just a stepping stone on his self-interested road to higher political office. He has shown his commitment to making decisions based on a different kind of litmus test: not what will help the Commonwealth, but what will help himself.”
To date, Youngkin has left the Commonwealth to campaign or meet with donors in at least a dozen states since becoming Governor, including trips to Washington, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, New York, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Kansas, and Michigan.
