Video: Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA07) Says She “support[s] giving the Ukrainians anything they need to win this war, and that includes F-16s”

"...the Ukrainians are doing the hard work of fighting, they are an incredibly motivated military force, very talented."

See below for video of Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA07) speaking at the Brookings Institute earlier today, the subject being “the U.S. Congress’s national security priorities, challenges, and legislative responsibilities — with a particular focus on the work of the House Intelligence Committee on which [Rep. Spanberger] serves.” According to Rep. Spanberger (among other things):

  • “Ukrainians are the ones who are on the battlefield every single day, fighting for their freedom. It is their country, it is their democracy, it is their…fight for their very existence that is happening on that battlefield, and it’s up to the Ukrainians for them to determine and decide the constraints of going to the negotiating table, what negotiation looks like, what they are willing to give up or not give up, and that is wholly up to them to decide.”
  • “I support giving the Ukrainians anything they need to win this war, and that includes F-16s, I’ve been very clear on that…In the very early days, the administration – and I think rightly so – was hesitant about what’s the point in time when we might do something that would trigger Article 5. But we are at the point now where we are  continuing our support, they are continuing their fight, and we have increased the scope and the size and the type of support that we are either giving directly or we are facilitating the transfer of. And at this point in time, I think we should have a very clear view of the fact that the Ukrainians are doing the hard work of fighting, they are an incredibly motivated military force, very talented.”
