DELEGATE DAN HELMER DENOUNCES YOUNGKIN AND MAGA REPUBLICANS FOR HYPOCRISY ON ANTISEMITISM

FAIRFAX, VA – On Monday, at the Governor’s Mansion in Richmond Virginia, Governor Glenn Youngkin signed HB 1606 defining antisemitism. Despite claims that “hate has no place in the Commonwealth and where that hate is translated into despicable actions, we can stand up together and say there is no room for that,” Youngkin has aligned himself with Texas billionaire Harlan Crow, a known collector of Nazi memorabilia, including a signed copy of Hitler’s manifesto, Mein Kampf.

“On May 8th, even though not a single Jewish patron signed onto it, Governor Youngkin signed a bill to define antisemitism, HB 1606, attempting to provide political cover for MAGA extremists’ antisemitism,” said Delegate Helmer. “And as he was signing the bill with his right hand, with his left hand Youngkin was taking $40,000 from billionaire Harlan Crow — a man who proudly displays a copy of Mein Kampf signed by Adolf Hitler in his home. If Governor Youngkin really wanted to stand against antisemitism and with the Jewish community, he should return the money and denounce known antisemites.”

Delegate Dan Helmer, a Jewish member of the House of Delegates and subject of a blatantly antisemitic mailer from the Virginia GOP in 2021, spoke out against Governor Glenn Youngkin and the MAGA Republicans’ hypocrisy on antisemitism.
