Kiggans shamelessly attempts to spin her vote for bill that would make 22% cuts to veterans’ benefits
Jen Kiggans is lying to the nearly 88,000 Virginia veterans she represents as she attempts to defend her disastrous vote for a bill that would make an extreme 22% cut to veterans’ benefits.
The Department of Veterans Affairs said the spending proposal would cut more than 80,000 department jobs and 30 million medical appointments, and increase the backlog on disability claims.
The Department of Labor said job assistance for veterans would suffer, and the Department of Justice said veterans making claims would bog down under the PACT Act involving Agent Orange, burn pits and other combat hazards.
Virginia veterans – like Jim Barry – are feeling threatened by the Kiggans-backed Republican plan.
“The access to the health care concerns me the most,” Virginia veteran and former Army radar operator Jim Barry, who lives in the 2nd Congressional district, told WAVY TV 10. “I have friends that are retired from the Navy and the Army that use the VA extensively.”

“When Jen Kiggans voted to push our nation closer to a job-killing recession, she also turned her back on the nearly 88,000 veterans she represents. The Kiggans-backed Default on America Act would hurt – not help – the brave men and women who served our nation.”
