First Digital Ads Released in Competitive SD-16 and HD–21 races
Richmond, Va — Today, a week before voting begins for the 2023 election, Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC announced our first digital ads of the cycle. The initial investment of $150,000 in digital spending is in Senate District 16 for Delegate Schuyler VanValkenburg and House District 21 for Josh Thomas and highlights their opponents’ plans to ban abortion. Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC plans to defend reproductive rights for all Virginians by spending more than $1.5 million in key House and Senate campaigns, reaching more than 150,000 voters in key districts through door knocking, digital ads, and mail.
Statement from Jamie Lockhart, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia:
“Virginians know that abortion is on the ballot. Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC is proud to invest nearly double what we invested in 2019 in field programs, digital, and mail to reach as many voters as we can and make sure they know what is at stake for abortion rights in this election. Our goal: stop an abortion ban. Virginia is the last state in the south without new abortion restrictions since Roe was overturned and it’s imperative that we win majorities to keep it that way. Extreme anti-abortion politicians will stop at nothing until they’ve banned abortion outright. Virginians, and the nation, cannot afford to let that happen.”
