Governor Glenn Youngkin Commits 1.4 Million Dollars to Banning Abortion in Virginia

Richmond, Va  – Governor Glenn Youngkin is making a 1.4 million dollar media buy in an attempt to justify the extreme abortion ban that he has fought for and that anti-abortion candidates have been running on in this election, Virginia’s first since the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Statement from Jamie Lockhart, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia:

“A ban is a ban, plain and simple. We’ve seen the horrific impact of abortion bans across the country. People are forced to give birth, even when it puts their lives at risk or when their pregnancies are nonviable. In states where bans include exceptions like the one that Youngkin is arguing for, we have seen that people still struggle to access care because medical providers are under legal threat. Already, one in three American women now live in states where they no longer have control over their bodies.

Glenn Youngkin told us what he will do if he has an anti-abortion legislature after this election: he will ban abortion. And we know he won’t stop at 15 weeks. Governor Youngkin has made clear that he will sign any piece of anti-abortion legislation that makes it to his desk. This ban he is arguing for is just the beginning.

Even Glenn Youngkin knows that  70% of Virginians believe abortion should be legal, which is why he is making a seven-figure spend to try to justify his extreme agenda. These ads utilize dangerous misinformation and deceit to convince voters that an abortion ban is acceptable. We know Virginians won’t be fooled.

Make no mistake – abortion is on the ballot. Seventy-eight percent of Americans say the decision to have an abortion should be left to a woman and her doctor, rather than regulated by law. Virginians have until November 7th to stop Glenn  Youngkin and his anti-abortion extremist friends in their tracks and protect our reproductive freedom.”
