Check out the videos from Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Senator Mamie Locke’s fundraiser last week in Alexandria with Gov. Wes Moore to raise money in support of Democratic Virginia State Senate candidates.
Gov. Wes Moore: “We know that elections have consequences…[In Virginia], we’ve got a governor and a Republican legislature who’s debating, ‘Is it 10 weeks? Is it 12 weeks? Is it 15 weeks’? Literally throwing out random numbers, without understanding that the randomness of those numbers…never talks about the protection or the safety or the freedom or the flexibility of the women who should be the ones making the actual decisions. And I say this respectfully to my colleague, Gov. Youngkin – you should not have a say!”
VA State Sen. Mamie Locke: “I was able to overcome poverty thanks to public schools, great teachers & a lot of hard work. But this is so much bigger than me – it’s about the most vulnerable. The other Mamie Lockes didn’t have the same opportunities to get out of the housing projects, are still being told that they are going to be a statistic, and are being told that they can’t be somebody. The people of our Commonwealth deserve better. When @VA_GOP tells us who they are – that they want to take away our rights and bring Virginia backwards and hurt the vulnerable – we should believe them. But for the Senate of Virginia, we would have had some horrible laws on the books.”

We need to hold the majority in the State Senate to prevent the failed policies that myself & the other Mamie Lockes know all too well. I stared injustice in the face even as an adult, forced to register to vote twice in MS years after the passage of the Voting Rights Act. 4/ pic.twitter.com/G3h7waRLze

This election has life or death consequences. While @GovernorVA Youngkin wants to take away reproductive freedom from women, our Virginia Senate Democratic candidates – who are teachers, parents, and everyday working people – are fighting for our communities and freedoms. 5/ pic.twitter.com/Hi0PJllgpQ

I am lucky to be in this fight for our commonwealth standing shoulder to shoulder with everyday people and longtime public servants. Thank you to @JennMcClellanVA and @BobbyScott4VA3 for co-hosting an amazing event. And thank you, @IAmWesMoore, for joining us. 6/6 pic.twitter.com/2GduoPAFRw
