Virginia House Speaker-Designee Don Scott Announces Del. Jeff Bourne and Attorney Jeffrey Breit as Transition Team Co-Chairmen for Office of the Speaker

SPEAKER-DESIGNEE DON SCOTT ANNOUNCES TRANSITION TEAM CO-CHAIRMEN FOR OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER

Del. Jeff Bourne and Attorney Jeffrey Breit Named Co-Chairmen of Speaker Transition Team

PORTSMOUTH, VA –  Today, Virginia House of Delegates Speaker-designee Don Scott announced that Delegate Jeff Bourne and Jeffrey Breit will lead the transition team for the Office of the Speaker. Breit and Bourne will work closely with outgoing Speaker Todd Gilbert’s team to ensure a smooth transition of the office.

Speaker-designee Don Scott said, “As I look towards a productive session that reflects the values of Virginia, I am grateful to have great partners like Jeffrey and Delegate Bourne at my side and leading this transition. Both Bourne and Breit are hardworking and dedicated people who represent so much of what Virginia stands for. I know they will help me in the mission of building an office with the honor and respect the role of Speaker so deserves.”

Delegate Jeff Bourne is a proud Richmond resident, husband and father to two children. Del. Bourne has served in the General Assembly since 2017. Prior to serving in the General Assembly, Del. Bourne was appointed by Attorney General Mark Herring to serve as the Deputy Attorney General for transportation, real estate and construction litigation for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has also previously served as head of Government Relations at the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority, the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Richmond, and a representative on the Richmond City School Board. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors for: the Maymont Foundation, Fit4Kids, and holds leadership roles with Next Up.

Jeffrey Breit is a native of the Hampton Roads area and a partner at Breit Biniazan Law Firm, specializing in helping people across the Commonwealth. Throughout his successful career, he has never backed down from a challenge, including taking on Halliburton following the 2010 BP/Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. He is also an adjunct professor of law at William & Mary Law School. Jeffrey is a proud member of The Inner Circle of Advocates, as well as an active member of the Virginia Poverty Law Center’s Advisory Council.
