The Biden economy is really really impressive, by almost any metric. So when is the “mainstream media” going to report this *fact* – and yes, it is a fact, just look at the numbers, with (as WaPo economics columnist Heather Long explains): “4.7 million more jobs than pre-pandemic, Below 4% unemployment for two years, Wages growing faster than inflation.” Or, as Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman explains:
“Another jobs report that has soft landing written all over it. Unemployment still near a 50-year low…core inflation close to the Fed’s target. Cue another few dozen articles about why Americans are right to say…the economy is terrible.”
Bingo. Finally, here’s what the Biden campaign has to say about this morning’s employment report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:
“Today’s jobs report, showing 199,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate fell to 3.7% last month, once again confirms how much progress we have made under President Biden’s leadership. When President Biden took office, he inherited an economy from Donald Trump that was in shambles. Since then, the U.S. economy has consistently defied expectations and experienced the fastest recovery in history, far outpacing our global counterparts.”\
Truly amazing. And, of course, ZERO thanks to Republicans, who have relentlessly badmouthed the economy, voted against crucial pieces of economic legislation like the infrastructure bill and Inflation Reduction Act, etc, etc. As for the corporate media, when a Democrat’s in the White House, they refuse to report ANY good economic news without a “but” after it; they refuse to credit the Democrats with playing a huge role in that good economic news; and they refuse to point out, clearly and upfront, that the good economic news is in SPITE of Republicans. And we wonder why so many people think the economy’s bad, even when it’s doing SUPERBLY, and even when they report that their OWN financial situations are good?!?
